Mr Genadry was the Head of the Lebanese Insurance Control Commission (ICC) for 13 years (from May 2002 to May 2015). He has over 20 years of leadership experience in various industries, functions, countries and acted regularly in change management environments.
He started his career as a Flight Simulation Engineer at CAE Electronics, a world leader in commercial flight simulator manufacturing, Canada, before moving, after his MBA, into management consultancy in the Telecom field with PricewaterhouseCoopers consultants (formerly Coopers & Lybrand), and banking with United Group Consultants, France. Prior to joining ICC, he worked with the INDEVCO industrial group (Lebanon).
Since 2002 he took the responsibility of building ICC from its inception, managing the multiple challenges of building competences for a new profession where no experienced professionals existed, while being accountable for results from the start and managing the change process of introducing the supervision of a sector that had been active for over six decades without real supervision.
Through his international experience he was exposed to the importance of understanding developing jurisdictions realities and needs. He is thus very sensitive to the importance of competencies, ethics and personality in the development of effective supervisors and its impact on the private sector.
At the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), he acted as the Chairman of the IAIS “Supervisory Development Working Group”. Under his leadership IAIS developed the Supervisory development strategy that positioned it into its present Catalyst role. He also took up other positions at IAIS as a member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chair of the Implementation Committee, as well as Vice Chair of the Regional Coordination Subcommittee and member of the Coordination Group, the Budget committee and the Audit & Risk Committee.
