Fetooh Al Zayani

Fetooh's career spans 35 years in executive management, Underwriting and business development in the regional and international insurance and re-insurance industry. This includes leading roles at regulatory & development authorities in the GCC region.

In 2006, Fetooh was invited by the Qatar government to join the Qatar Financial Centre as a founding member and M.D. in charge of developing the commercial & marketing strategy for the insurance & reinsurance sector at the QFC. In addition to promoting the center in the international market, Fetooh was also instrumental in developing, leading and executing some of the QFCA's major initiatives such as the reinsurance web-based platform 'Qatarlyst' and Qatar Finance & Business Academy (QFBA). She also launched 'MultaQa' which became the premier industry event in the region.

From 2003 to 2006, Fetooh was the Head of Business Development for insurance and reinsurance at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and a founding team member. She was responsible for developing the insurance and reinsurance commercial and marketing strategy and played a major role in positioning the DIFC on the international insurance & reinsurance map.

Prior to that, Fetooh spent 22 years in the Arab Insurance Group (“ARIG”) where she was managing the largest international aerospace reinsurance portfolio in the MENA region from 1994 to 2002.

In 2009 Fetooh was voted in the top 10 of most influential professionals in the GCC who made an impact on the evolution of the regional insurance and reinsurance market.

In January 2010, Fetooh was presented by international judges with the “Outstanding Contribution” award for driving innovation and promotion of the Gulf insurance market onto the global stage at the Gulf Insurance Review Awards.

Fetooh is currently acting as advisor and board member for various regional firms, government & educational entities including the Central Bank of Bahrain Motor Compensation Fund Trustee board, the Bahrain Polytechnic Curriculum Advisory Board, member of the Financial Services Task Force for the Bahrain Higher Education Authority and a Chairperson for a regional group.

She is also the International Insurance Society’s (IIS) Ambassador for Bahrain.
